Entice Cover?

I was surprised when I got on Goodreads today and looked at the third novel in the Need series by Carrie Jones, Entice. THERE'S A COVER! So, I went back to Carrie's blog to see if I missed it, but there was no post. So I'm thinking it could be a non-official-early draft. But it looks SO good! Here it is for your viewing pleasure. It looks really great next to the other two covers.

Night Star Cover!

Night Star is the fifth book in The Immortals Series by Alyson Noel. I recently finished reading Dark Flame. (I haven't written a review, but the book was awesome! Definitely better than Blue Moon and Shadowland, naturally not as good as Evermore - rarely is a sequel better than the first. But it was close! I LOVED it!)

Anyway, Night Star is set to hit stores November 16th! Alyson recently posted the cover for the novel on her blog here.

I like it! As expected, it fits with the previous four covers and its main color appears to be red! I just have to say that it looks awkward. I mean, she's "holding it out" but looking not at it. It almost looks like she is. But, whatever that awesome looking object is, she is looking behind it. And her arm looks awkward. I noticed this pretty quickly. Who knows, maybe she's not even supposed to be looking at it. But, I don't care! I still love this cover. That object is mesmerizing. Seriously, go back and look at it. Really look at it. It's giving off stars and stuff! Sort of. Anyway. I like this cover.

A New Beautiful Darkness Cover?

Over on Castergirls.com, they have posted about a NEW cover for Beautiful Darkness, the sequel to Beautiful Creatures! Now, at first I was angry. But after comparing them, I've decided I like this new one more.

So, here, for your viewing pleasure, is the NEW Beautiful Darkness cover:

So, here are the reasons I like the new cover (above) more than the old cover (left).

The text color on the old cover is darker and I think the lighter just looks better with the black. Now, this could just have something to do with the screen or whatever. The lighter color stands out more and looks less flat, even though it is.

I am not a huge fan of the "sparkles" in the sky. To be honest, they look sort of lame here. Maybe if they were done differently. Maybe they'd look better on the actual cover, in person than they do on a computer version.

However, I am a HUGE fan of the gate. I think it's pretty and just really cool. The steps on the new cover are creepy and fill the background which looks really nice. It looks more real as well. The gate across the bottom with stars or sparkles in the sky just looks fake. It's awkward. There is too much empty space in the old one. Sometimes it's okay, but here I don't like it.

I feel that the steps look better with the Beautiful Creatures cover (right). The trees take up almost the entire background and fill up a lot of space. The space is also filled in the new cover with the steps. Overall, I am very happy with the new cover and really hope this one sticks.

The Iron Daughter Cover!

The Iron Daughter, the sequel to The Iron King, has a cover! Julie Kagawa posted today that The Iron Daughter is appearing on NetGalley. Of course, I had to check this out. And I am thrilled to see a cover!

It looks awesome as far as I can tell! It's too small to post here so click the NetGalley link about and it's the second one! Woo hoo!

Beautiful Darkness Cover!

That little summary came from beautifulcreaturesthebook.com. I find it incredibly disappointing because all it does is summarize the first one, Beautiful Creatures. It tells me nothing about Beautiful Darkness. I'm hoping we get something new and more revealing soon!

The Scorch Trials Cover!

I am in love with this cover! I am so excited for the release of this book. The Maze Runner quickly became one of my favorite books and I am eagerly awaiting this companion. Thoughts on the cover?

It looks great with The Maze Runner (below) although I like the Greek cover better. and the UK cover is just so completely different than this one!

I'm so excited! I absolutely love this cover and it will look fantastic next to Fallen!

Sunday Series

So, I've decided that every Sunday (or as often as I can) I will post the covers of a series and talk about them! I mentioned in a previous post about how I think it's really great (and important) when covers of books in a series are cohesive. And so, I'm going to show some that are and some that are not (if I can find any. Because I think, for the most part, they are cohesive.)

So to start of my new weekly meme (is it a meme? I don't know.) I am going to compare the three covers of The Hunger Games Trilogy. Why? Well, first, the cover of the upcoming and final HG book was revealed last week, I LOVE these covers, and The Hunger Games is one of my absolute favorite series. Ever.

The Hunger Games: This cover immediately caught my attention. I read the synopsis and thought, "Hmm...That sounds really interesting..." So I ordered it and had to wait until Christmas! It had still just come out. When I got it I looked at the cover in person and was happy to see it was shiny! YES! Shiny! And really smooth. I LOVE when book covers feel the way The Hunger Games feels.

I find that this cover represents the book well. It's dark which makes it feel dark which the book pretty much is. I mean, children fighting to the death on live television? Yeah, that's pretty dark. I love the placing of everything. The title is prominent and at the top so it's definitely noticed, even from far away on a bookshelf. Good choice. And then there is the mockingjay pin. Oh that pin. How I love thee. It's a pretty small thing in the book, but it's still so important. I think this was a great idea for the cover. Showing people on this would ruin it for me. Then I would picture the characters that way through the whole thing. This was a great cover choice. The mockingjay pin is totally unique. And I love the design it. They almost look like targets stemming from the pin. LOVE it!

Catching Fire: When I first saw the cover for Catching Fire, I was not disappointed! It keeps with the feel of the first one. There is the mockingjay pin, but this time the cover is brighter and RED! Which reminds me of The Girl that was On Fire! The pin is more detailed and the wings are more spread out this time. The mockingjay looks as if it is breaking free of the confines of the pin. Symbolism? It also appears that there is light coming out from it this time, as well as the targety design, but it's not surrounding the pin and it goes the opposite direction. I think this makes the two covers look really good next to each other.

I had to buy the Catching Fire pin from Borders. I couldn't NOT buy it!

Mockingjay: Wow! When I saw this cover I was ecstatic! Because now we adoring fans have a cover AND title to relate to the book. It is no longer The Hunger Games #3. It is Mockingjay! Many have pointed out how the cover colors progress from darker to light and also that the mockingjay on Mockingjay is spread out and seems free. Again, symbolism? I'd say so. The mockingjay is no longer encompassed in a circle and surrounded by targety images. The said targety looking design is totally underneath or behind the mockingjay. This cover instills hope in me and it looks as if the mockingjay is flying away! I really can't wait for Mockingjay to come out. I am greatly anticipating the finale of one of my absolute book series ever.

Overall Cohesiveness: This book series is most definitely cohesive as far as covers are concerned. I love these covers! They show the progression of the series in two ways. The colors and the image. I love that the same image is used.(At least I hope it's a progression symbolic of the story. Naturally, I don't know yet. Not until August 24th!)

It's the mockingjay which was significant to Katniss and so it is significant to the reader. The titles are all in the same font which I like as well. It'd look strange otherwise! The first two are a bit shiny and are smooth and I can only assume the third will be as well. I sure hope so. I love shiny books.

Mockingjay is set to be released August 24th 2010!

The Replacement Cover

Wow! Over on the Merry Sisters of Fate blog, 2010 Debut Author Brenna Yovanoff has posted the ARC cover for her debut book, The Replacement. I am so excited for this book! I've read her short fiction on the blog and I am very excited to finally read a novel by her.

So, this cover is amazing! At first, I was a little startled. It's just so eerie and macabre. In my opinion, the best part about this book cover is that it's so original. I have never seen a book cover like it; I have seen several books with similar covers. This cover is phenomenal.

The Demon's Covenant Cover

The author Sarah Rees Brennan has a new blog post over on her blog, Sarah Tells Tales! This wonderfully exciting new post is the cover of her newest book, the second in The Demon's Lexicon series, The Demon's Covenant!

For anyone who has read the first book, The Demon's Lexicon, the girl on the cover is Sin!

I am so excited to finally have a cover in my head for this book.

The Demon's Covenant will hit stores on May 18th 2010.

Radiance Cover

Wow! More exciting news over on Tales From the OC (Really!) by author Alyson Noel.

The absolutely beautiful cover for her new series has been released to the public. Woo hoo! The new series is a spin-off of her bestselling series, The Immortals. This is about Ever's sister Riley and her life and adventures in the afterlife. The cover is totally gorgeous. This cover very beautifully illustrates a scene in Evermore that we hear about and I'm so excited to be able to SEE it.

Dark Flame Cover

Okay, I am so excited! Alyson Noel, author of The Immortals Series, has posted a new blog post on her blog, Tales From the Real OC (Really!). This post is about her upcoming book Dark Flame, number four in the well-loved series.

The cover is gorgeous! It goes really well with the previous covers. I was especially curious to see the color. Evermore is purple, Blue Moon is blue (naturally!) and Shadowland is red.

I also wanted to see the main item featured. Evermore has two red tulips (I love tulips). Blue Moon has the orb. And Shadowland as the protective necklace of stones that the name of has slipped my mind!
